Island kiss lip moisturiser – Quick review

31 Mar , 2016

I saw it on Corallista blog few days ago and it tempted me to buy this. I decided to buy one at first to analyze it. There are three variants of this lip moisturizer: Alma vanilla and inges lavender, Puerto berry blush, and  Cherry blossom Flores (click on the links to check their website). I am reviewing Cherry blossom Flores.

It is an Indian company based out of goa (marketing division only). The manufacturing unit it says is in Himachal Pradesh under Astaberry info sciences Pvt Ltd. It may be a subsidiary of Astaberry skincare.

On point! Very cute and tropical life inspired. It resembles theBalm and Benefit packaging. It comes in a tube like the Himalaya lip balm back in 2006 – 2007. The slanted tip makes direct application easy. Provides 14 gm of product.

Ingredients breakdown

100% natural. It is petroleum free and non-toxic lip moisturizer.

  • Kokum and mango butter – excellent hydration. Locks in moisture. High temperatures may make the product oily.
  • Organic beeswax – Helps hold the moisture in. Gives the product a creamy texture.
  • Stevia – Natural sweetener
  • Castor oil – Thick oil with high levels of oleic acid which makes skin emollient. Emollient skin absorbs other oils and butter easily.
  • Organic carrot seed oil – gives SPF 15 to this lip moisturizer. Also is high in vitamin A which will help in boosting collagen on lips.
  • Vitamin E and Macadamia nut oil – Again two hydrating oils which have antiaging effects.
  • Japanese Cherry Blossom essential oil – I have my doubts on this ingredient. I was not able to track any cherry blossom essential oil. I could only find fragrance oil in the market. I can be wrong too. They might have got it supplied from somewhere else. It imparts it a sweet aroma.
  • Natural organic color – This gives a pale pink color to the moisturizer.

Order and delivery

It was comfortably slow. It took around 5-6 days to arrive.

My thoughts

When I had dehydrated lips it took about one hour to actually hydrate my lips. Oil like feeling irritates me especially when summers are kicking in. After it is absorbed the feeling lasts and lips become quite soft. The color given is very subtle, giving your lips a ‘my lips but better’ feeling.

It is good for my night time skin care. Although the smell is good on lips but in the mouth, it feels synthetic to me (not a very nice feeling). During the morning hours with or, without makeup, I will avoid it. I will be soon coming out with the DIY quick absorbing version so stay tuned.

Will I recommend?

YES, for night time application. It has a lot of anti-aging qualities. It can keep the aging lines on lips under control. Big NO for day time. Very oily. You can taste the fragrance in your mouth while eating which does not make me feel good.

Rating – 4.5/5

Yes. It is good. Not the waxy stuff. I like moisturizers for lips better than lip numbing waxy balms. Plus an all natural stuff is perfect for me. :)

True Anurima. The only thing which makes this good id carrot seed oil in it which has high Vitamin A. This makes it a sunscreen and an anti aging product for lips.
