DIY for under eye bag

Quick DIY for under eye bag

7 Apr , 2016

Under eye bags are a major problem these days. With long hours spent just staring at the computer, this problem starts from a very young age. There are certain steps of makeup through which you can hide them but it is just a temporary solution. I will give one quick DIY which will make the under eye bag go in few hours.

What are under eye bags?

Under eye bags are mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes. They are common as you age. With aging, the tissues around the eyes weaken. The normal fat that helps support the eyes can then move into the lower eyelids, causing the lids to appear puffy.

What causes under eye bags?

  • Alcohol
  • High sodium/soy intake
  • Watching laptop or TV all the time
  • Smoking
  • Eating too much junk food
  • Too much sugar in your diet
  • Caffeine intake
  • Lack of sleep
  • Obesity/overweight
  • Aging

Things needed for under eye bag roll on

  • A roll-on bottle – You can use dropper bottles too. Use ring finger to apply the product. Roll-ons are easier to apply
  • Rose hydrosol – This reduces pigmentation and aging signs from under eye area
  • Chamomile hydrosol – Chamomile is excellent in reducing under eye bag quickly
  • Peppermint hydrosol – This gives a cooling effect. Peppermint increases blood flow in the region helping in water withdrawal. Blood flow also helps to decrease dark circle over the time

Under eye serum looks like this

  • 1 tsp rose hydrosol
  • 2 tsp chamomile hydrosol
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint hydrosol
  • 2 tsp distilled/filtered water

Note: I use water because it absorbs quickly and I can use under/over makeup too. You can use essential oils of the same plants as well. The composition, in that case, will be converted as follows

1 tsp = 2 drops

Use 10 drops of jojoba oil instead of water as base.

This DIY can be used as under eye serum at night. Rub the roll on your under-eye few times. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now. It works wonders for my mild puffy eyes. For permanent removal of under eye bag working out is the best solution, though. If this serum helps to reduce dark circles I will update you guys for sure. All skin types can use this. Still, a patch test is recommended. Try it and leave your feedback here.

I have seen little reduction in dark circles with regular use but still I am not sure this DIY is resposible for that. For puffy eyes this is my go to concoction. :)
